Andy’s Jazz Club

During their time in Chicago, Kerouac and Neal Cassady -- respectively Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty in On the Road -- scoured bars and jazz clubs, mostly, with the goal of listening to bop and to sniff out "it". Xavier is an old friend of mine whose place is where I've landed. He has lived in Chicago for several years. I haven't seen him for over ten years. When he asks me where I want to go, a jazz club is quite naturally what I suggest.

He takes me to Andy's Jazz Club, where we have a few drinks in this old, celebrated club while talking about the people we both knew. The musicians are playing some nice jazz, a little tame, nice... still, it's bliss...
