... an unofficial English version of the blog "Mais où est donc passé Jack Kerouac ?" Where was he?.... From New York City to San Francisco, this photographic roadtrip celebrates the 50th anniversary of the publication of "On the Road" by retracing the steps taken by Jack Kerouac and the Beat Generation in an adventure across today's America.

"On the Road" by Jack Kerouac is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This novel relates the wanderings of the 'pope' of the Beat Generation across 1950's America. Right after its publication in 1957, it became the emblematic book for: the 50's, the emerging counter-culture of the 60's, the Beatnik movement, and the changes in values contributing to American identity.
New York, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles... this photo-report hopes to follow the same path, now 50 years later, that Kerouac had taken. It also hopes to exhibit a familiarity with this immense country through a mosaic of portraits and landscapes witnessing to Kerouac's spirit and, as a whole, to the Beat Generation's spirit -- all the while pondering a place and time when George W. Bush holds the country's reins.
