Beat poet

I'm going to the Beat Museum where Harold Norse is giving a lecture. He is a Beat poet who used to reside in Paris in the 60's, in the Beat Hotel on Gît-le-Coeur Street. There, he made ties of friendship with Beat writers who were there, notably Ginsberg, Corso and Burroughs. Norse is celebrating his 91st birthday today. Excerpt from a poem of his, written in Caffe Trieste:

" … here in San Francisco
as I sit at the Trieste
recitative of years!
O Paradiso! sings the jukebox
as Virgil and Verdi combine
in this life
to produce the only Golden Age
there’ll be…”

The Beat Museum of San Francisco first opened its doors in January, 2006. The collection there includes books, manuscripts, photos, etc... The original poster of the 1966 "Trips Festival" really amused me with the photo of a nude Ginsberg and the caption "Can you pass the acid test?" And on the far wall, you can recognize Kerouac, and then Cassady driving a car - on the road - ...
